andBeyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is hidden in a forest of mahogany, wild mango and fig trees in the far south of Lake Manyara National Park. It is the only lodge inside the park, and its thatched treehouse suites, raised among the branches, are among the most romantic places to stay in northern Tanzania.
Lake Manyara is a park of remarkable variety for its size: groundwater forest fed by springs at the foot of the Rift Valley escarpment, open grassland, acacia woodland and the shallow soda lake that gives the park its name. Elephants, buffalo, giraffes and baboon troops move through the forest, hippos wallow in the pools, and the lakeshore is famous for its birdlife.
Each treehouse suite has a veranda with an outdoor shower, an en-suite bathroom with a free-standing bath, a fan and an in-room safe, and the sounds of the forest all around. A family treehouse is available for parents travelling with children. The lodge also has a small swimming pool, a spa offering massages, a curio shop and a boma for dining under the stars.
Because the lodge lies deep in the park, some 48 km from the entrance gate, you enjoy the forest, the lakeshore and its wildlife long after day visitors have left, and before they arrive in the morning. Stays are full board with most drinks included, and laundry is included too.
The bush is never far away — wildlife moves through the lodge, so guests are escorted to their rooms after dark. We recommend at least two nights to enjoy the park at its quietest.
